Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: A 200MP F1.4 Camera and an S Pen — This Year's Android Ceiling?

Our rating 4.5

Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra is live on Samsung's official site. The opinions and analysis here are our own; specs are cited from Samsung's official product page (see sources below).

Key configuration: a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip (Samsung cites roughly 39% faster NPU, 24% GPU, 19% CPU vs. the prior gen); a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ panel with 1–120Hz LTPO and a built-in privacy display; a 200MP F1.4 main camera alongside a 50MP ultra-wide and a 50MP telephoto; a 5000mAh battery that Samsung says reaches ~75% in about 30 minutes; a ~7.9mm/214g body with an aluminum frame, 256GB/512GB/1TB options, and a built-in S Pen.

Our take: the headline is that F1.4 main camera — going this wide is a bet on low-light and shallow depth of field, and it's an aggressive move for a phone's main lens. Add the 1–120Hz LTPO panel, the privacy display, and a still-present S Pen, and Samsung pushes the "do-everything flagship" idea about as far as it goes. But it's also pricier and heavier (214g is not light), and many of the AI features trickle down to cheaper models anyway. In short: if you want the current Android spec-and-camera ceiling and actually use the S Pen and big screen, it fits perfectly; if you just want a clean, capable flagship, the standard model or last year's Ultra is the more sensible value.

An honest note: pricing, colors and availability follow Samsung's regional sites and carrier channels; the chipset and some specs can differ by region (some markets have used Exynos in the past), so verify the local spec page before buying.

Pros

  • A 200MP F1.4 main camera with serious low-light and depth-of-field ambition
  • An LTPO 1–120Hz QHD+ panel that balances brightness and power
  • S Pen, big screen and top-tier power keep it one of the most complete Android flagships

Cons

  • At 214g it's on the heavy side for prolonged one-handed use
  • Flagship pricing keeps climbing, and most AI features also appear on cheaper models
  • Chipset and specs vary by region — watch the differences if importing
